DWS Strengthens Renewable Energy Portfolio with Swedish Onshore Wind Farm Acquisition

(IN BRIEF) DWS has expanded its European infrastructure investment portfolio by acquiring Heather Wind AB, an onshore wind farm in Sweden with a capacity of 48 MWp. This acquisition, part of DWS’s strategy to diversify its renewable energy assets, follows previous investments in solar projects in Germany and Spain. The wind farm, operational since June 2021, was purchased from Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust plc, with OX2 continuing as the operator. The acquisition aligns with DWS’s goal of offering attractive returns while supporting Europe’s energy transition.

(PRESS RELEASE) FRANKFURT, 29-Aug-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — DWS has announced the acquisition of Heather Wind AB, an onshore wind farm located in Ljungbyholm, Sweden, as part of its European infrastructure investment strategy. This acquisition marks a significant addition to DWS’s portfolio, which now includes diverse renewable energy assets across Europe. The wind farm, operational since June 2021, boasts a capacity of 48 megawatts peak (MWp) generated by 12 Nordex turbines, providing clean energy to both private households and commercial customers.

The wind farm was acquired from Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust plc, a leading renewable energy investor in Europe. OX2, a prominent renewable energy developer, continues to operate the facility.

Peter Brodehser, Partner Investments Infrastructure at DWS, expressed his satisfaction with the acquisition, noting that it enhances the regional and technological diversity of DWS’s European infrastructure strategy. This marks the first onshore wind farm added to the strategy, complementing previous investments in solar energy projects in Germany and Spain. Brodehser emphasized the dual benefits of this investment: offering attractive returns while supporting the transition to renewable energy.

DWS’s continued focus on renewable energy projects underscores the importance of investments from both institutional and retail clients to drive Europe’s energy transformation and support sustainable infrastructure development.
