Dr. techn. Olav Olsen AS and NIRAS awarded major framework agreement on bridges in Norway by The Norwegian Road Administration, Region South

A newly signed framework agreement for the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, Region South, has strengthened NIRAS’ role as a significant player in the infrastructure market in Norway. The goal of becoming a recognized Scandinavian consultant for infrastructure has therefore moved closer.

(PRESS RELEASE) Allerød, Denmark, 20-Dec-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — The Norwegian Road Administration, Region South, has recently awarded the team consisting of Dr. techn. Olav Olsen AS and NIRAS A/S this new framework agreement, which is the 7. framework agreement on bridges, roads and railways, since NIRAS decided to enter the Norwegian infrastructure market.

The right partner is crucial for the result

Together with Dr. techn. Olav Olsen AS, NIRAS is one of 6 advisors having signed a framework agreement regarding consultancy on projects concerning bridge maintenance, including condition assessment, bridge classification, repair and reinforcement.

A smooth collaboration between NIRAS’ Norwegian and Danish departments coupled with a close cooperation with Dr. techn. Olav Olsen AS, has according to Head of department Theis Tarp Rasmussen helped pave the way for the achievement of the framework agreement with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration: “With the new framework agreement, it has become clear that we are now a well-known consultant for projects involving bridges, roads and railways in Norway. And we are recognized as a competent and serious player with the second highest score based on competence and experience, “says Theis Tarp Rasmussen.

Framework agreement boosts further development

The new framework agreement is also strategically important in relation to the further development of NIRAS’ investment in the Norwegian market: “We know from previous framework agreements that we can win projects tendered on that market. Therefore, the new framework agreement is extremely important, in that we have not previously worked in Region South”, says Theis Tarp Rasmussen.

The framework agreement is valid until December 31, 2019, with the option of an extension of two years.

Ready to take on greater challenges

Carsten Heine Lund, Director of Infrastructure in NIRAS, is proud of the new agreement: “When we entered the Norwegian market four years ago, our approach was initially relatively cautious. But with more than a handful of framework agreements and many concrete tasks under our belt, both within roads, bridges and railways, we can set the bar high and believe in our position as an important player and partner in the field of infrastructure.”
