DONG Energy has signed a contract with Siemens Gamesa for its Borssele 1 and 2 offshore wind farm in the Netherlands.

Fredericia, Denmark, 10-Jul-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Siemens Gamesa will supply and service 94 units of their 8MW wind turbines  for the 752MW Borssele project. The offshore wind farm is expected to be fully operational by the end of 2020.

Jasper Vis, Country Manager for DONG Energy Netherlands, says:

“With the signing of the wind turbine contract, we pass a key milestone in this project, which will be a landmark in the Netherlands’ shift to renewable energy. This is an important step on our way to reducing the cost of renewable electricity in the Netherlands.”

Anders Lindberg, Senior Vice President and responsible for the construction of wind farms in DONG Energy, adds:

“We’re progressing well with the preparation of Borssele 1 and 2, and we’re looking forward to working with Siemens Gamesa and the other suppliers who all contribute with innovations and cost outs to make the realisation of a large-scale offshore wind farm possible.”
