DNV Clinches Technical Advisory of the Year Award at 2024 Wind Investment Awards

(IN BRIEF) DNV, a leading assurance and risk management provider, secures the prestigious Technical Advisory of the Year honor at the 2024 Wind Investment Awards. This recognition highlights DNV’s exceptional contributions to the wind industry, particularly in the UK, where wind power plays a crucial role in the energy transition. With projections indicating significant growth in wind capacity, especially offshore, DNV’s expertise and dedication are instrumental in driving forward the renewable energy agenda, contributing to a sustainable future.

(PRESS RELEASE) BÆRUM, 24-May-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — DNV has won the Technical Advisory of the Year honour at the Wind Investment Awards 2024. Organized by Tamarindo, the Awards have been recognizing and celebrating the very best in the wind industry since 2019.

The 15 categories were judged by some of the biggest names in the wind industry and DNV saw off strong competition from K2 Management, Natural Power, Neptune Infrastructure Associates Ltd, OWC, and Wood, to win the Technical Advisory of the Year accolade.

Wind power has a significant part to play in the energy mix moving forward. The UK already boasts the second biggest offshore wind market in the world and is home to the world’s largest offshore wind farm, the 3.6 GW Dogger Bank Wind Farm located 70 nautical miles (130km) off the coast of Yorkshire.

DNV’s UK Energy Transition Outlook 2024, forecasts that total wind capacity will grow more than 5-fold from 29 GW now to 140 GW by mid-century. With opposition to onshore wind developments expected to continue, we predict that growth in UK wind capacity will be mostly offshore, constituting two-thirds of installed capacity in 2050.

Hari Vamadevan, Senior Vice President, and Regional Director UK & Ireland of Energy Systems at DNV, said: “We are excited and humbled that DNV has been recognized within the industry with this award; the second time we have won the Technical Advisory of the Year Award, having been successful in 2019. These awards demonstrate the value that the wind industry brings to the UK economy, to society and to our fight against climate change. Wind is expected to be a key player of UK energy generation moving forward growing nearly 7-fold from 70 TWh/yr today to 500 TWh/yr by mid-century, so it’s important celebrate the achievements of the industry and individuals working within it to ensure that we continue to build towards a brighter future. Finally, I’d like to thank the dedication and hard work of my colleagues and our customers – this win would not have been possible without their dedication and hard work.”
