DHL Express Secures 9.5 Million Liters of Pure SAF from Neste at Changi for Air‑Cargo Operations

DHL Express Secures 9.5 Million Liters of Pure SAF from Neste at Changi for Air‑Cargo Operations

(IN BRIEF) Neste will deliver 7,400 tons of 100 percent unblended SAF to DHL Express at Singapore Changi Airport between July 2025 and June 2026, marking one of Asia’s largest SAF deals in air cargo. The SAF, meeting CORSIA criteria, will be blended on-site to comprise 35–40 percent of the fuel used by five Boeing 777 freighters flying twelve times a week to Asia and the Americas. Quotes from Christopher Ong and Carl Nyberg highlight the agreement’s role in accelerating emissions reductions and demonstrating scalable low‑carbon solutions. The deal also supports Singapore’s target of 1 percent SAF usage on flights from 2026.

(PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 16-Jul-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Neste and DHL Express have deepened their sustainability partnership with the delivery of 7,400 tons (9.5 million liters) of pure Neste MY Sustainable Aviation Fuel™ to power DHL Express’s cargo operations at Singapore Changi Airport from July 2025 through June 2026. This transaction—one of the largest volumes of unblended SAF ever secured in Asia’s air‑cargo sector—underscores a shared commitment to slashing greenhouse‑gas emissions in global logistics.

Under the terms of the agreement, Neste will supply CORSIA‑eligible SAF produced at its Singapore refinery—the world’s largest SAF production site—via its integrated supply chain straight into Changi’s fuel distribution network. Accounting for roughly 35 to 40 percent of the fuel mix, this SAF will equip DHL’s five Boeing 777 freighters, which operate twelve weekly departures from the carrier’s South Asia Hub to destinations across Asia and the Americas.

Christopher Ong, Managing Director of DHL Express Singapore, noted, “This SAF procurement milestone helps accelerate our emissions‑reduction roadmap for air transport and reinforces our promise to customers: greener shipping choices. As a leading SAF user worldwide, DHL Express is not only meeting industry benchmarks but establishing new standards for voluntary SAF uptake.”

Carl Nyberg, Senior Vice President, Commercial, Renewable Products at Neste, added, “Extending our SAF collaboration into Singapore—a vital aviation hub—demonstrates how scalable, low‑carbon solutions can support DHL’s global decarbonization ambitions today.”

This one‑year supply agreement also advances Singapore’s national goal of achieving at least 1 percent SAF utilization across all passenger and cargo flights from 2026 onward.
