(PRESS RELEASE) BONN, 10-Sep-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Deutsche Telekom has expanded its cyber defense capabilities with the official opening of its Master Security Operations Center (SOC) in Bonn. This center is the hub of the company’s global network of security operations, designed to counter the growing threat of cyberattacks. The SOC processes billions of security data points daily and addresses up to 95 million attack attempts each day.
AI and automated learning systems are playing a critical role in identifying and mitigating attacks, many of which are increasingly sophisticated and powered by AI. The SOC is also instrumental in detecting and neutralizing botnet servers, which are responsible for large-scale attacks like Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks.
Thomas Tschersich, Head of Telekom Security, emphasized the urgency of cyber threats, noting that today’s cyberattacks require responses within hours or minutes. The new center’s enhanced capabilities provide faster reactions to cyber incidents for both Deutsche Telekom and its customers.
