Deutsche Post DHL Group expands collaboration with Beethovenfest—sponsors three-part concert series to the theme of “Begegnungen”

  • Free four-week program of events in the Post Tower Lounge
  • Innovative festival advertisement with integrated postal stamp

BONN, 12-Apr-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Deutsche Post DHL Group continues to expand its involvement in the International Beethovenfest Bonn music festival, presenting a new three-part concert series to the theme of “Begegnungen” (Encounters). The 2016 festival will run from September 9 to October 9.

“For many years now Deutsche Post DHL Group has supported projects and institutions related to Ludwig van Beethoven and his work,” says Christof Ehrhart, Director of Corporate Communications and Responsibility at Deutsche Post DHL Group. “In the spirit of this longstanding tradition, we are expanding our collaboration with the Beethovenfest and hosting an out-of-the-ordinary concert series entitled ‘Begegnungen’ (Encounters).” Each of the three concerts in the series explores a different musical space, with fresh interpretations of classical music rooted in younger genres like modern and jazz, and even featuring a unique new approach to performance.

This year’s program booklet also contains another special feature: embedded in the advertisement “Für Elise” is a specially designed, removable postal stamp, which can be used to share the pre-festival excitement with friends and family.

In recent years the Post Tower Lounge has become an established Beethovenfest venue. This year too, visitors to the Post Tower can expect a varied program of musical performances throughout the four-week festival – including chamber music, chansons and jazz. As in the past, the Post Tower concerts are free to all guests. And because the events for young audiences have been just as popular as those for adult festivalgoers, the Classics for Kids event series will be expanded to include a special music workshop.

To open the festival, Deutsche Post DHL Group will once again support the “Bühne frei für Beethoven” (Clear the Stage for Beethoven) open air concerts on September 10, 2016, during which some 1,000 school students from Bonn and the surrounding region will perform throughout the city. In addition, Deutsche Post DHL Group will once again sponsor the public viewing of the festival’s opening concert on Bonn’s main market square on September 11, 2016.
