Catherine Ashton, EU High Representative, appoints new Heads of EU Delegations to Canada, Indonesia, Israel and Mexico

Brussels, 8-3-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — EU High Representative Catherine Ashton appoints new Heads of EU Delegations to Canada, Indonesia, Israel and Mexico

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the Commission, announced today the appointment of four new Heads of EU Delegations. The new appointments, part of the 2013 rotation exercise within the European External Action Service (EEAS), are as follows:

Marie-Anne Coninsx has been appointed Head of the EU Delegation to Canada. She is currently Head of the EU Delegation to Mexico and has previously worked for the European Commission in Geneva, New York and Brussels, notably as Head of Unit for Latin America.

Olof Skoog has been appointed Head of the EU Delegation to Indonesia. He is currently the Permanent Chair of the Political and Security Committee (PSC) and was the first person to hold this position, prior to which he was Swedish Ambassador to the PSC. He has also served as Swedish Ambassador to Colombia, Venezuela, Panama and Ecuador.

Lars Faaborg-Andersen has been appointed Head of the EU Delegation to Israel. He is currently Ambassador of Denmark to the PSC and has previously served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Denmark to the United Nations in New York and Head of the Department for the Middle East, North Africa and Central and South America in the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Andrew Standley has been appointed Head of the EU Delegation to Mexico. Currently Head of the EU Delegation to Israel, he was Head of Unit in the European Commission and served as Head of Delegation in Bolivia.
