BUKO Traffic & Safety Enters German Market with Strategic Acquisition of BVT Bremer Verkehrstechnik

(IN BRIEF) BUKO Traffic & Safety, a leading Dutch provider of traffic and safety management solutions, has expanded into the German market by acquiring BVT Bremer Verkehrstechnik GmbH. This acquisition aligns with BUKO’s broader European growth strategy, which saw it enter the UK market earlier this year. BVT, headquartered near Bremen, offers temporary traffic management services to contractors and local authorities and employs 75 people across three sites. BUKO’s CEO Robert Emmerich and Equistone Director Tanja Berg both highlighted the acquisition as a strategic fit for BUKO’s expansion goals in Europe.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 4-Nov-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — BUKO Traffic & Safety, a prominent provider of outsourced traffic and safety management solutions based in the Netherlands, has expanded its footprint into Germany with the acquisition of BVT Bremer Verkehrstechnik GmbH (BVT). This move follows BUKO’s earlier expansion into the UK market through its acquisition of Road Traffic Solutions Ltd. (RTS) and aligns with BUKO’s strategy to broaden its reach across Europe. The financial specifics of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Headquartered in Barendrecht, BUKO employs over 450 personnel and manages a high volume of projects annually in traffic and safety management. The company operates through two main divisions: BUKO Infrasupport, specializing in temporary traffic solutions for contractors and authorities, and BUKO Waakt, which provides remote security systems for construction sites. Since Equistone acquired a majority stake in BUKO in early 2023, the company has focused on growth in its core Dutch market and expansion in neighboring European countries, including the UK through its acquisition of RTS in March 2024.

This latest acquisition of BVT, based near Bremen in Stuhr, Germany, brings a strong portfolio in temporary traffic management for contractors, local authorities, and event organizers. BVT has established itself as a trusted provider in low-speed traffic management, operating from three locations with a team of 75.

Expressing enthusiasm for the acquisition, BUKO CEO Robert Emmerich said, “We are excited to partner with BVT for our entry into the German market. There is a strong fit between BVT and BUKO in terms of strategic focus, culture, and shared ambitions for the future.” Tanja Berg, Director at Equistone’s Munich office, added, “After a successful entry into the UK, BVT represents an ideal partner as BUKO enters the German market, allowing us to support BUKO’s international growth through a focused buy-and-build strategy.”

The transaction was supported by a team including PwC for financial and tax advisory, De Angelis for legal counsel, Roland Berger for commercial insights, and Rautenberg for M&A support, with key members of the Equistone team overseeing the process.
