(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 29-Apr-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — BT is launching a new campaign in partnership with renowned broadcaster Moira Stuart to guide customers through the transition from analogue to digital landlines. With the UK set to complete the switch by 2027, the campaign focuses on the straightforward process of transitioning to Digital Voice, while offering tailored support to vulnerable customers.

The new service, Digital Voice, is delivered over broadband and offers improved call quality alongside advanced scam protection. Over three million customers have already adopted the service, ensuring they are future-ready for a digital communication world.

Moira Stuart’s Support for Vulnerable Groups

Moira Stuart, who has personally experienced the challenges of scam calls, is helping BT raise awareness of the ease and safety of the transition to Digital Voice. The broadcaster will also emphasize the enhanced features of the service, including the scam protection tool, which blocks 17,000 scam calls daily.

“Switching to Digital Voice was easier than I expected,” said Moira Stuart. “It’s reassuring to see how BT is offering customers, particularly the elderly, the support they need, including scam protection that I personally find invaluable.”

In her visit to the Mitchells, a couple in their 80s from Boston, Lincolnshire, Moira Stuart highlighted how simple the transition process was for them with BT’s assistance, reassuring other customers who may be hesitant about the change.

Regional Focus to Support Vulnerable Customers

To ensure the smooth transition for vulnerable customers, BT’s regional rollout will begin in late spring 2025, starting with the East of England, Northern Ireland, Wales, and Yorkshire & Humber. BT engineers will offer in-home visits to assist with setup, along with providing battery backup units to keep customers connected during power cuts.

By summer 2025, regions such as London, the East Midlands, Scotland, and the North East will also begin the transition. By autumn, the rollout will expand to the North West, South East, and South West regions.

Support for Customers Without Broadband

For those without broadband, BT will continue to offer a dedicated landline service, ensuring no customer is left behind. This service will remain operational until 2030, providing a seamless transition for those who need it.

A More Connected Future

Lucy Baker, BT Group’s All-IP Director, emphasizes, “The transition to digital landlines is pivotal for improving reliability and security in communications. Our focus is to support vulnerable customers with the time and resources they need to embrace these changes without worry.”

Customers will receive at least four weeks’ notice before their transition, and anyone who needs additional help is encouraged to use BT’s Additional Needs webform for tailored assistance. The company’s Connected Together initiative also encourages families to support vulnerable relatives during the transition.
