BT Appoints Peter Leukert as Chief Digital Officer to Drive Digital Transformation and Customer-Centric Change

(IN BRIEF) BT has appointed Peter Leukert as its new Chief Digital Officer, where he will lead the company’s Digital unit and oversee its digital transformation. Peter joins from Deutsche Telekom, where he significantly contributed to the company’s IT and digital platform overhaul. His appointment is set to drive BT’s future growth by improving customer experience and embedding data and AI throughout the company’s operations.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 9-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — BT has announced the appointment of Peter Leukert as Chief Digital Officer (CDO), effective from 1 September 2025. Peter will be responsible for leading BT’s Digital unit and driving the company’s ongoing digital transformation. He will be a member of the Executive Committee, reporting directly to Allison Kirkby, Chief Executive of BT.

BT’s Digital unit is central to its transformation, playing a pivotal role in the company’s customer experience-led approach. The unit focuses on radically digitising and simplifying both internal and customer-facing systems to improve efficiency and enhance stakeholder engagement. Moreover, the Digital unit fosters digital thinking across the organisation, embedding data and AI in everything the company does, with the goal of becoming the most trusted connector of people, businesses, and society.

Peter Leukert is currently the Group Chief Information Officer at Deutsche Telekom, a position he has held since 2017. During his tenure at Deutsche Telekom, he spearheaded a major transformation of their IT and digital platforms, resulting in the successful overhaul of their products and services, and contributing significantly to the company’s customer experience-driven growth. Prior to Deutsche Telekom, Peter held positions at McKinsey & Co, Commerzbank, and the New York Stock Exchange, both in Germany and the US.
