With a focus on advanced energy systems and clean energy solutions, the acquisition will support the UK’s energy transition and decarbonization goals. The integration will also bolster Bilfinger’s offerings in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Controls (EI&C) while contributing to the achievement of the UK’s ‘net zero by 2050’ target.

(PRESS RELEASE) ELLESMERE PORT, UK, 13-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Bilfinger, a global leader in industrial services, has successfully acquired the UK-based nZero Group, including its subsidiaries Orbital Gas Systems Ltd. and Thyson Technology Ltd., further solidifying its commitment to the UK’s energy transition. The acquisition, which took effect on May 12, 2025, includes nZero’s offices in Ellesmere Port as well as locations in Staffordshire and Bristol. With a team of around 240 employees, nZero is renowned for its advanced energy systems and gas technologies. This strategic move complements Bilfinger’s ongoing efforts to enhance its energy portfolio and aligns with the company’s mission to support its customers’ decarbonization journeys.

This acquisition strengthens Bilfinger’s position in the UK’s gas and hydrogen sectors, leveraging nZero’s specialized expertise in gas measurement, analysis, control systems, and clean energy technologies. The company offers proprietary solutions for CO2 quality and quantity measurement, digital services, and consulting, covering the entire value chain. In 2024, nZero achieved approximately £30 million (around €35 million) in revenue, further cementing its significant presence in the industry.
