Barclays Names Former Linklaters Chief People Officer Lynne Burns as Group HRD

(IN BRIEF) Barclays has appointed Lynne Burns as Group Human Resources Director. She succeeds Tristram Roberts, who has retired after nearly 13 years at Barclays, including more than 10 years in the Group HRD role. Burns joins from Linklaters, where she served as Chief People Officer. She previously held senior HR roles at HSBC, including Group Head of Talent, Global Head of HR for Global Commercial Banking and Global Banking & Markets, and Head of HR for HSBC UK. Earlier in her career, she also held leadership roles at Royal Bank of Scotland. Barclays Group Chief Executive C.S. Venkatakrishnan said Burns’ more than 30 years of HR leadership experience will support the bank’s efforts to modernise operations, strengthen connections across the Group and build a high-performing, inclusive culture.

Burns succeeds Tristram Roberts, who has retired after nearly 13 years with Barclays, including more than a decade serving as Group Human Resources Director.

She joins Barclays from Linklaters, where she held the role of Chief People Officer. Before joining Linklaters, Burns spent seven years at HSBC in several senior human resources leadership positions.

Her roles at HSBC included Group Head of Talent, Global Head of HR for the Global Commercial Banking and Global Banking & Markets divisions, and Head of HR for HSBC UK. Earlier in her career, she also held a number of leadership positions at Royal Bank of Scotland.

C.S. Venkatakrishnan, Group Chief Executive of Barclays, said Burns brings more than 30 years of experience in leading HR teams and supporting organisational change.

He added that her experience will support Barclays as the bank continues to modernise and simplify its operations, strengthen connections across the Group and build a high-performing, inclusive culture for the next phase of its strategic plan.

Venkatakrishnan also thanked Tristram Roberts for his leadership and contribution to the bank.
