Bank of Scotland relaunches its Argyle Street branch with the latest in interactive digital technology

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 16-Dec-2019 — /EuropaWire/ — Bank of Scotland has announced it is reopening its completely overhauled Argyle Street branch following multi-million pound renovation. The branch in Glasgow has been designed to meet the changing needs of high street customers and act as a testing ground for the future of banking in Scotland. The bank’s new flagship branch brings together a host of new services, designed to create a very different high street banking experience for both personal and business customers.

The current branch opening of Bank of Scotland on Glasgow’s Argyle Street is Lloyds Banking Group‘s third flagship branch opened and the first in Scotland. Manchester city centre has seen the first one opened under the Lloyds Bank brand while a Halifax branch opened on Oxford Street in London in 2018.

The new branch in Glasgow will be the first one for the Bank of Scotland to have a dedicated business hub with a ‘Business Connector’ employed to help local start-up businesses.

For those buying a home the new branch will provide help on all aspects of purchasing a property, with expert colleagues on hand at all times, available without appointment, and relying on the latest interactive digital tools.

The bank is partnering with local social enterprise Social Bite to offer quality food and barista crafted coffee in-branch to customers and visitors.

Further partnerships include the ones with Google and Microsoft where the bank runs regular events to share expertise on topics such as home buying and digital skills for children.

Commenting on the branch reopening, Tara Foley, Manager Director at Bank of Scotland, said:

“It’s exciting to finally open the doors to our new state-of-the-art flagship branch in Glasgow. While new technology is rapidly changing the way many people do their day to day banking, support and guidance from our colleagues remains crucial for the big or unexpected moments in our customers’ lives, such as buying a home, having children, or dealing with a bereavement.

“That’s why we’ve created a different kind of bank branch. This will offer the services that we know customers want in a modern and flexible environment, combining the latest in interactive digital technology with the trusted personal service provided by our expert colleagues.”

When it comes to Scotland, the Bank of Scotland has the most extensive branch network in the country. The bank relies on nearly 200 branches along with a mobile branch network serving over 100 locations.

The bank’s branch on Argyle Street in Glasgow is in fact one of Scotland’s busiest branches with over 50,000 customers served each month. Built on 14,000 square foot spread over three floors, it is also one of the largest. The branch is located on the corner of Argyle Street and St Enoch’s Square, just a stone’s through from Central Station in in Glasgow.
