Bang & Olufsen and Kvadrat Expand Partnership With New Woolscape Speaker Cover

Bang & Olufsen and Kvadrat Expand Partnership With New Woolscape Speaker Cover

(IN BRIEF) Bang & Olufsen has introduced a new Beosound A9 in Sienna Brown, paired with a custom Kvadrat Woolscape Mineral Red textile developed through collaboration between Kvadrat Febrik and Swedish design duo Front. Inspired by Swedish forests, snowscapes and lakesides, Woolscape was created using photographed and 3D-scanned natural textures translated into a double-knitted upholstery textile. Bang & Olufsen and Kvadrat worked closely to ensure that the textile’s visual and tactile qualities would complement the speaker without affecting acoustic performance. Additional Woolscape covers will also be offered in Black Anthracite, Gold Tone and Natural Aluminium, while the Sienna Brown and Mineral Red version is available from 1 September 2026.

(PRESS RELEASE) STRUER, 2-Sep-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Bang & Olufsen has introduced a new interpretation of its iconic Beosound A9Sienna Brown finish with a custom Kvadrat Woolscape textile in Mineral Red.

The launch expands Bang & Olufsen’s longstanding partnership with Danish textile company Kvadrat and brings a new material expression to the Beosound A9, pairing acoustic performance with tactile textile design.

Woolscape was developed through a collaboration between Kvadrat Febrik, Kvadrat’s knitted textile brand, and Swedish design duo Front. Inspired by natural landscapes, the knitted textile uses texture, structure and colour to create a distinctive surface designed specifically for Bang & Olufsen.

The company said the new design reflects its philosophy of Beautiful Sound, which combines acoustic precision, design and craftsmanship to create a multisensory experience.

Sienna Brown and Woolscape Mineral Red bring a new material expression

The new Sienna Brown finish gives Beosound A9 a warm, sophisticated appearance, with the deep brown tone extending across the speaker and its brushed aluminium legs.

It is paired with Woolscape Mineral Red, a richly textured cover created from four complementary tones.

The combination contrasts the precision of brushed aluminium with the softness and tactile quality of knitted textile, adding depth and warmth to the speaker’s sculptural form.

Kresten Bjørn Krab-Bjerre, Senior Director of Design at Bang & Olufsen, said the design team saw an opportunity to give Beosound A9 a new character through the relationship between colour, material and form.

He said the warmth of Sienna Brown complements the tactile qualities of Woolscape, while the aluminium legs provide a deliberate contrast that reflects Bang & Olufsen’s experience in combining refined metalwork with soft textiles.

Woolscape draws inspiration from Nordic landscapes

Woolscape takes inspiration from the textures, structures and colours of Swedish forests, snowscapes and lakesides.

To develop the textile, Front photographed and 3D-scanned natural textures and forms before translating them into a double-knitted upholstery fabric.

The resulting tapestry-like surface features variations in texture and tone that change subtly depending on light and the surrounding environment.

Bringing a customised version of Woolscape to the Beosound A9 required close collaboration between Kvadrat and Bang & Olufsen.

The companies worked to ensure that the material’s visual and tactile qualities could be preserved without compromising acoustic performance.

Because the textile’s material, weave, construction and colour can affect the way sound travels through a speaker cover, Woolscape underwent testing and refinement to balance design characteristics with the acoustic requirements of Beosound A9.

Renee Mercks, Creative Director at Kvadrat Febrik, said the textile was created to explore how fragments of the natural world could be introduced into domestic environments.

She said the fabric translates the textures, colours and complexity of nature into a surface that changes with its surroundings and creates a sense of connection with the landscapes that inspired it.

Additional Woolscape covers expand customisation options

Bang & Olufsen will also make Woolscape covers available separately in Black Anthracite, Gold Tone and Natural Aluminium, providing additional customisation options across the Beosound A9 range.

The expanded collaboration between Bang & Olufsen and Kvadrat continues the companies’ exploration of how material, colour and sound can shape the experience of contemporary interiors.

The Beosound A9 Sienna Brown with Woolscape Mineral Red cover is available from 1 September 2026 through selected Bang & Olufsen stores and the company’s online store.
