Banco de España: Enrique Alberola Ila appointed Chief Representative of the BIS Representative Office for the Americas in Mexico City

MADRID, 22-7-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Enrique Alberola Ila, Executive Coordinator of the Banco de España Associate Directorate General for International Affairs since 2009, has been designated as Chief Representative of the BIS Representative Office for the Americas in Mexico City. He will take up this position in October.

Among his tasks at the helm of the Representative Office for the Americas will be to strengthen the BIS’s actions on this continent, most particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to cooperate effectively with the region’s central banks, especially those belonging to the Consultative Council for the Americas. His duties will also include contributing to economic and financial analysis and research on the region.

Enrique Alberola is a graduate in economics from the University of Valencia and has a PhD in Economics from the European University Institute in Florence. He has pursued his career predominantly at the Banco de España, initially in the DG Economics, Statistics and Research, and subsequently, from its establishment in 2001, in the ADG International Affairs, where he first headed the Latin American Economies Unit and was then Head of the International Economics Division. He also worked as a university lecturer and was a visiting researcher at the World Bank. His main specialist field is international financial macroeconomics.
