The company’s Next Generation Indirect Fire Control System is intended to support artillery crews at the point of fire by providing a modern digital fire control capability for faster targeting, improved accuracy and stronger operational awareness. The system is designed to help deliver indirect fires while connecting individual guns with broader sensor and effector networks, allowing operational data to move more efficiently across the battlefield.

The new capability has been developed by BAE Systems Weapon Systems UK and is being presented at Eurosatory, the international defence and security exhibition. It reflects the increasing importance of digital connectivity in artillery operations, where the ability to collect information, make decisions and act quickly can be critical.

John Borton, Managing Director of BAE Systems Weapon Systems UK, said modern conflict requires armed forces to sense, decide and act at speed. He said the new system has been developed to accelerate the delivery of fires by linking platforms, sensors and decision-makers through a resilient digital architecture.

Borton added that the system provides a foundation for a more integrated and responsive fires capability, helping armed forces connect artillery platforms into wider operational networks.

The system is built around an open architecture approach, allowing it to integrate with a wide range of existing and future platforms. This design enables it to operate across different artillery systems and digital environments, while supporting the integration of sensors, command systems and other effectors into a connected ecosystem.

The flexible architecture is also intended to support future upgrades. Armed forces will be able to develop their fire control capabilities over time without needing major changes to existing equipment. By enabling integration across multiple systems, the capability supports a more agile and adaptable approach to indirect fire operations.

The system has been developed with a sovereign UK baseline configuration, giving customers greater control over how fire control capabilities are deployed, managed and adapted to operational requirements.
