Anna Maria Corazza-Bildt MEP appointed as the European Parliament’s new coordinator for children’s rights

STRASBOURG, 12-Dec-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — “I am fully committed to putting children´s rights at the heart of the work of the European Parliament and bringing this house, the only democratically-elected EU Institution, closer to younger citizens,” commented European Parliament President, Antonio Tajani following the appointment of Anna Maria Corazza-Bildt MEP, as the European Parliament’s new coordinator for children´s rights.

The newly-appointed European Parliament Coordinator will be the spokesperson for the entire European Parliament, ensuring the promotion, respect and safeguarding of children´s rights in all European Parliament policies and legislation. The European Parliament Coordinator will work closely with MEPs and all relevant parliamentary committees to ensure that the best interests of children are always fully respected in EU legislation and non-legislative initiatives of the Parliament.

“Over the years, Anna Maria Corazza-Bildt has played a key role in putting children´s rights at the heart of the EU political agenda. She will work as an active promoter of children’s rights and serve as the focal contact with other institutions and organisations involved in EU policy and children rights, as well as UNICEF and key civil society organisations, improving children’s lives both within the EU and in its relations with the outside world,” concluded President Tajani.
