Angela Liu to lead Barclays China

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 11-Oct-2021 — /EuropaWire/ — Barclays (LON: BARC), a British multinational universal bank, has announced the appointment of Angela Liu as Country CEO, China. As Barclays continues to reinforce its Asia Pacific franchise the leadership change will strengthen its existing cross-border Corporate and Investment Bank (CIB) platform in China and Ms. Liu will be reporting to Jaideep Khanna, Head of Barclays, Asia Pacific.

Barclays is currently present in key Asia Pacific markets including China/Hong Kong SAR, India, Japan, Singapore and Australia. Ms. Liu will be responsible for strengthening Barclays’ cross-border CIB platform in China by expanding the bank’s current platform and capabilities model – to support corporates and financial institutions based in China, catering to their cross-border corporate and investment banking needs, and connecting them to the capital markets of Asia Pacific, UK, Europe and the Americas. Ms. Liu will also be leading Barclays’ China growth initiatives across all product lines in Global Markets, Investment Banking and Corporate Banking, in partnership with the bank’s regional heads of the CIB, and will also work with Ms. Grace Kuo, Barclays’ Shanghai Branch Manager.

Ms. Liu joins Barclays with nearly 20 years of experience in the banking industry. Most recently, she was at Deutsche Bank as Head of Institutional Client Group, China and Hong Kong, where she led client coverage and distribution across its entire product spectrum. Prior to that, Ms. Liu was at Morgan Stanley for over 17 years in New York and Hong Kong, where she made significant contributions across structured products, securitized products and client coverage. Ms. Liu also served as Chairman of the Board for Morgan Stanley Bank International (China). She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Columbia University with a Bachelors and Masters in Applied Mathematics.
