(IN BRIEF) International technology group ANDRITZ has been awarded a contract by EON Energy Projects GmbH to supply a highly efficient EcoFluid boiler with a capacity of 30 MW thermal power, which is expected to be operational in 2025. The state-of-the-art bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) boiler will use waste from paper processing and sewage sludge from the Aschaffenburg site, resulting in a 25% reduction in natural gas consumption and a decrease of 50,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. The plant will contribute to the lowest possible environmental impact with flue gas values that correspond to the best available technology benchmark in Germany.

(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 21-Feb-2023 — /EuropaWire/ —  ANDRITZ (VIE: ANDR), an international technology group based in Austria, has been awarded a contract by EON Energy Projects GmbH to provide an EcoFluid boiler capable of producing 30 MW thermal power. The plant is expected to go online in 2025.

The state-of-the-art, bubbling fluidized bed (BFB) boiler from ANDRITZ will use waste from paper processing and sewage sludge from the Aschaffenburg site. Once operational, it will decrease natural gas consumption by 25% and reduce CO2 emissions by 50,000 tonnes per year. The saved amount of natural gas could provide heat to a town with 85,000 residents for a whole year.

ANDRITZ will provide engineering, supply, erection, and commissioning of the BFB boiler, including all necessary supporting equipment, as well as a flue gas cleaning plant with two bag filters and a Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) system.

This new ANDRITZ facility will ensure optimal utilization of residues, resulting in the most advanced thermal efficiency. The plant will also contribute to the lowest possible environmental impact by achieving flue gas values that meet the best available technology benchmark in Germany.
