(IN BRIEF) Visy Paper, a subsidiary of the Visy Group, has chosen ANDRITZ to install a state-of-the-art FibreFlow Drum pulping system at its recycled paper mill in Coolaroo, Victoria, Australia. The system will enable Visy Paper to process a challenging raw material mix that includes household wastepaper and Australian OCC with a reject content of up to 25%. The technology includes a longer and reinforced FibreFlow Drum for gentle pulping and efficient removal of contaminants, as well as a spray water treatment system and a new cleaner to remove glass fragments. The mill produces plasterboard liner for the building industry and various liner grades from 100% recycled content.

(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 17-Feb-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — ANDRITZ (VIE: ANDR), an international technology group based in Austria, is pleased to announce that it has been selected by Visy Paper to deliver its cutting-edge FibreFlow Drum pulping system to the company’s recycled paper mill in Coolaroo, Victoria, Australia. The system will have a maximum feed capacity of 1,400 t/d and will include various fiber cleaning equipment as well as a spray water treatment system to produce various board grades.

This innovative system will enable Visy Paper to process a challenging raw material mix, which includes household wastepaper and Australian OCC (Old Corrugated Containers) with a reject content of up to 25%. We are particularly excited about the technological highlights of this project, which include a FibreFlow Drum with a longer and reinforced design to ensure gentle pulping of the raw material mix, and efficient removal of coarse contaminants at a minimum fiber loss. Additionally, we will be incorporating our innovative PrimeScreen X for spray water treatment and the new RB450 cleaner to enable superior removal of glass fragments.

The drum pulper is the first of its kind in Australia,” says Jean Yves Nouaze, Executive General Manager Pulp & Paper, Visy. “This upgrade will increase our capacity to process up to an additional 95,000 tonnes of wastepaper per year, to be made into new products here in Victoria. We thank ANDRITZ for partnering with Visy and working collaboratively on this critical project.”

Peter Clewes, Vice President Fiber, ANDRITZ Paper, Fiber and Recycling division continues, “I’m very pleased that our first FibreFlow Drum pulping system for Australia is part of an investment that focuses on the further strengthening of the Australian waste and recycling infrastructure.”
