ANDRITZ Introduces Recycled Fiber Technology in Bangladesh with Successful Start-Up at Lipy Paper Mills

(IN BRIEF) ANDRITZ has successfully launched its first recycled fiber lines in Bangladesh at Lipy Paper Mills, marking a major step forward in the country’s paper industry. The two lines can process 150 tons per day of recycled materials and feature advanced energy-saving technology. This partnership aligns with Lipy Paper Mills’ sustainability goals, while ANDRITZ views the project as a key milestone in expanding its resource-efficient solutions globally.

(PRESS RELEASE) GRAZ, 11-Oct-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — ANDRITZ, the international technology group, has successfully started up two recycled fiber (RCF) lines at Lipy Paper Mills Ltd. in Kanchpur, Bangladesh. This marks a significant milestone as it represents the first introduction of ANDRITZ’s RCF technology into the country’s paper industry.

The two new fiber processing lines, designed to handle 150 tons per day of locally sourced materials such as old corrugated cardboard and mixed office waste, will convert these into recycled fibers for producing high-quality testliner, writing, and printing papers. The installation features cutting-edge technology from ANDRITZ, including the PrimeScreen X pressure screen and the PrimeFloat flotation system, which help to minimize fiber loss, alongside an advanced dispersing system that reduces steam consumption, contributing to a more energy-efficient operation.

Abdul Matin Khan, Managing Director of Lipy Paper Mills, expressed his satisfaction with the successful start-up, stating, “We are proud to be the first company in Bangladesh to utilize ANDRITZ’s innovative recycled fiber technology. The smooth start-up and energy-saving features of these lines are perfectly aligned with our commitment to sustainable operations.”

Wei Shi, Vice President and Regional Manager for Paper & Textile APAC at ANDRITZ, highlighted the importance of the collaboration, saying, “We are grateful to Lipy Paper Mills for their trust and partnership in introducing our RCF technology to Bangladesh. This project is a key milestone in our efforts to provide resource-efficient and sustainable technologies to the global paper industry.”
