(PRESS RELEASE) OXFORD, 25-Oct-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Amey has unveiled its new eco-friendly Consulting office and design hub in Belfast, officially opened by Northern Ireland’s Infrastructure Minister, John O’Dowd. This new office represents a key development in Amey’s growth strategy, positioning the company closer to clients like Translink and the Department for Infrastructure (DfI), with whom Amey recently secured a £30 million contract for nationwide water and engineering services. The office underscores Amey’s commitment to delivering sustainable, high-quality infrastructure solutions within Northern Ireland.

Located centrally in Belfast, the new facility accommodates 150 employees and features eco-friendly enhancements, including improved walking and cycling access, sit-stand desks, and hybrid meeting rooms for seamless collaboration across remote and in-person teams. With Amey’s Planet+ initiative to achieve net-zero carbon by 2040, the office has achieved an 80% reduction in annual carbon emissions—down from 42 tonnes to just 8.5 tonnes. This aligns with Amey’s dedication to sustainable operations.

The new hub will also play a central role in Amey’s workforce development, creating local employment opportunities, including apprenticeships and graduate positions. Nineteen early-career roles have been established, with women filling 37% of these positions. Amey’s contributions to the community are further reflected in its £749,419 in social value initiatives, benefiting Northern Ireland’s local economy.

Amey’s Managing Director for Consulting, Alex Gilbert, remarked, “We are proud to expand our presence in Northern Ireland with this new Belfast hub, which not only strengthens our capacity to serve key clients but also underscores our commitment to sustainability, talent development, and local community investment. This office will be the foundation for Amey’s continued growth in Northern Ireland and beyond.”

Minister John O’Dowd commended Amey’s efforts, stating, “I am pleased to open Amey’s new consulting and design hub, which will enhance their support for my department’s engineering services while increasing social value by creating entry-level roles and apprenticeships within the local community. I look forward to seeing Amey’s progress toward net-zero emissions and continued commitment to the region.”
