(PRESS RELEASE) SAINT-OUEN-SUR-SEINE, 19-Seo-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Alstom has taken part in the 2025 China International Metro Transit Exhibition & CAMET Forum (MetroTrans 2025), presenting an extensive line-up of its mobility solutions for cities at the Qingdao Cosmopolitan Exposition. Central to its showcase is the public debut of the Adessia Stream commuter train, joined by models of the Innovia automated people mover (APM), Innovia monorail, and Movia metro systems. In addition, Alstom is displaying a wide selection of critical rail components, including traction systems, traction motors, Flexx bogies, and Dispen dampers, underscoring the company’s commitment to advancing greener, smarter, and more efficient urban rail solutions.

“Urban mobility is evolving rapidly as commuting, airport access, and other travel needs increasingly converge,” said Ming Geng, Managing Director of Alstom China. “With continuous innovation and local collaboration, Alstom is well positioned to provide safer, more sustainable, and more comfortable journeys, while delivering solutions that anticipate the future of integrated urban rail.”

The newly introduced Adessia Stream train builds on more than 60 years of Alstom’s expertise in regional and commuter networks. With over 19,000 single-deck Adessia Stream trains in service across 30 cities, carrying roughly 20 million passengers daily, the platform is recognised globally for its efficiency, capacity, and reliability. The latest evolution offers 95% recyclability, lower energy use, and optimised lifecycle costs, providing operators with both sustainability and economic value. Recent global contracts highlight its growing adoption, including a €538 million order from Greater Wellington for 18 battery-powered Adessia Stream B trains with 35 years of maintenance, as well as a €1.0 billion contract with NJ TRANSIT in the United States for 200 Multilevel III commuter rail cars and 12 dual-powered Alp 45 locomotives.

Alongside its commuter solutions, Alstom is spotlighting its Innovia APM for short-haul, automated transport, designed for airports and transit hubs, as well as the Innovia monorail, which employs an elevated guideway to reduce congestion while offering quiet, flexible, and environmentally friendly performance. For dense urban corridors, the Movia metro provides a high-capacity, energy-efficient option with lightweight modular design and proven operational reliability.

The company is also highlighting its component expertise. Its traction systems, engineered with eco-design principles, deliver low-noise, energy-efficient, and high-reliability performance. Its motor portfolio, ranging from 50 kW to 1,600 kW, supports diverse rail requirements with more than 200,000 units already in global service. Flexx bogies, trusted in over 250,000 vehicles worldwide, provide a balance of passenger comfort and operational efficiency. The Dispen damping technology, developed in collaboration with Qingdao Alstom Railway Equipment Co., has been serving the industry since 1980 and is deployed in more than 40 countries, ensuring smooth and safe operations.

Alstom has been present in China for over six decades, with 11 joint ventures and nearly 10,000 employees supporting projects across the country. The company’s contributions include the delivery of thousands of metro cars, locomotives, trams, and passenger vehicles, along with services, signalling, and infrastructure solutions. Moving forward, Alstom intends to increase its investment in R&D and work closely with partners in China to accelerate the adoption of sustainable rail technologies that will power the next stage of urban transit development.
