Automotive aftermarket: Continental adds air spring dampers and compressors as original parts to its aftermarket portfolio

From a single source: workshops can now use new parts for the repair of air suspension systems.

  • Air suspension system repair with new parts now possible
  • Continental drives its portfolio expansion for the aftermarket with new products for VW and Audi models

(PRESS RELEASE) FRANKFURT, 12-Oct-2021 — /EuropaWire/ — Continental (ETR: CON), a German multinational automotive parts manufacturing company, has announced it will start offering the automotive aftermarket the same air suspension vibration dampers and compressors that it supplies to vehicle manufacturers.

This means that workshops can now use new parts that are installed as standard when repairing such systems. “We’re systematically moving forward with the expansion of our portfolio and strengthening the Continental brand. Adding these genuine parts to our product range once again sets standards in terms of quality and takes us yet another step closer to our vision of offering the workshops everything from a single source,” explains Peter Wagner, Head of the OE & Aftermarket Services business segment at Continental. The air suspension vibration insulators and compressors can now be ordered from dealers.

Continental has included air spring dampers and compressors as original parts in its aftermarket portfolio.

Many years of experience from mass production

Up to now, remanufactured air suspension systems and compressors have frequently been offered in the automotive aftermarket, as well as products of identical design. Continental is drawing upon its extensive experience from almost 25 years of series production for automotive manufacturers to bring original parts to the independent workshops – so now drivers can rely on the same quality that was originally installed in their vehicle at the factory. The products will be initially available for VW and Audi brand models, including the Audi A8, Audi Q7 and VW Touareg. “We’re already working on expanding the program and we’ll be offering products for more European vehicles in the future,” says Product Manager Andres Valencia Blazquez.

Air suspension systems are typically installed in upper-range vehicles and off-road models. They provide stability and enable the variable adjustment of the chassis. The systems are essential not only for driving comfort, but also for safety, because defective air suspension systems can affect braking distances and other vehicle systems. Since component wear & tear depends on individual driving behavior and usually progresses slowly and unnoticed by the driver, Continental’s experts recommend a regular system check at the workshop.
