Alexander van Ofwegen Appointed as Senior Vice President for Customers & Solutions and Heat at Vattenfall

(IN BRIEF) Vattenfall, the European energy company, has named Alexander van Ofwegen as its new Senior Vice President and Head of Business Areas Customers & Solutions and Heat. In his new role, which begins on January 1, 2024, Van Ofwegen will succeed Martijn Hagens. With a background in mechanical engineering and financial management, Van Ofwegen has been with Vattenfall since 2001 and has held various management positions within the organization. Currently serving as the Head of Business Unit Heat in the Netherlands and Finance Director of Vattenfall N.V. Netherlands, his extensive knowledge of the company and expertise in the heat business make him well-suited for this leadership role. Vattenfall CEO Anna Borg praised his constructive leadership style and expressed confidence in his ability to lead both business areas towards sustainable and customer-centric energy solutions. Van Ofwegen will report to Anna Borg and remain in his role as Finance Director for Vattenfall N.V. Netherlands. The succession process for his current position has already commenced.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 16-Dec-2023 — /EuropaWire/ — Alexander van Ofwegen has been appointed as the new Senior Vice President and Head of Business Areas Customers & Solutions and Heat at Vattenfall. He succeeds Martijn Hagens, who was recently appointed Senior Vice President and Head of Business Area Markets per January 1, 2024. This is also the date that Van Ofwegen will start in his new role.

Alexander van Ofwegen has a long-standing career at Vattenfall, with experience in different management roles in the organisation since joining in 2001. Van Ofwegen has a background in mechanical engineering and financial management. Currently he is Head of Business Unit Heat in the Netherlands. He is also Finance Director of Vattenfall N.V. Netherlands.
