ALECTIA completed major project for Unicer Portugal

4-7-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — This summer, Unicer’s extensive expansion project comes to an end. The impressive brownfield project is one of the largest investment projects in Portugal in 2012: Two breweries have been consolidated, placing most activities at one brewery which has been completely reconstructed. ALECTIA’s brewery consultants have facilitated the project from master planning to design and operation.

The Unicer Bebidas Group is the creator of the world famous Super Bock beer and owns two breweries in Northern and Southern Portugal. The Group faced an urgent need for a complete redesign and reconstruction of the northern brewery to prepare it for a larger production. At the same time, Unicer wanted to scale back its southern activities and consolidate its production at the brewery in the north.

From idea to operation
ALECTIA has advised Unicer from very first idea to ensure that the new brewery is designed to meet future challenges. ALECTIA has used its Project Delivery Model, a client-focused delivery tool which creates a detailed overview of all project phases and ensures a systematic and professional approach to all stages of the ambitious expansion project. And through the whole process, production has kept running on both sites.

State-of-the-art brewery
Unicer’s new facility is set up to produce 6 mill. hl per year. The reconstructed site is now a highly efficient brewery with state of the art production facilities. Focus is on product quality, energy and production efficiency as well as the health and safety of Unicer’s employees. Finally, the brewery now has a much more efficient supply chain and optimised production facilities which are prepared to meet the company’s future challenges.
