AFRY Secures Framework Agreement to Enhance Sweden’s Electricity Distribution Network for Renewable Energy Integration

(IN BRIEF) AFRY, a prominent player in industry, energy, and infrastructure, has been awarded a significant framework agreement with Vattenfall Eldistribution, one of Sweden’s largest Distribution System Operators (DSOs). Under this agreement, AFRY will provide a range of technical consulting services to strengthen and optimize the electricity distribution network, making it more efficient for the integration of new fossil-free energy sources. Vattenfall Eldistribution, a key player in the transition to sustainability, distributes electricity to over 900,000 companies and individuals in Sweden. AFRY will support Vattenfall Eldistribution in achieving its strategic goal of doubling electricity distribution by 2030, offering expertise in smart grid technologies, local network design, power infrastructure enhancements, energy capacity measures, and the integration of diverse fossil-free energy sources into the Swedish national grid. The framework agreement is in effect from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2025, with potential extensions. The specific order value has not been disclosed.

Through the framework agreement, AFRY will offer a wide range of technical consulting services to strengthen the distribution network and make it more efficient for the integration of new fossil-free energy sources.

The Swedish electricity network company Vattenfall Eldistribution is the largest owner and operator of regional networks in Sweden and distributes electricity to more than 900,000 companies and individuals – over half of all electricity produced in the country. They are a key player in the transition to a sustainable society and their strategic objectives are in line with AFRYs mission.

Through the framework agreement, AFRY continues as trusted partner in assisting Vattenfall Eldistribution to achieve its strategic goal of distributing twice as much electricity by 2030. As a leading player in industry, energy and infrastructure, AFRY will offer a wide range of consulting services, covering the design and implementation of smart grid technologies, design of local networks, power lines and station enhancement, energy capacity measures and integration of a diverse array of fossil-free energy sources into the Swedish national grid.
