This collaboration will analyze the technical and financial ramifications of integrating substantial volumes of renewable energy into Colombia’s power network, equipping the country for a robust, sustainable energy landscape.

Colombia’s grid is rapidly evolving as solar and wind installations proliferate. AFRY’s comprehensive study will evaluate the network’s ability to absorb a diverse renewables mix, pinpoint necessary investments in grid-strengthening solutions and propose mitigation measures.

The scope of work encompasses power-flow and dynamic stability analyses, techno-economic modeling and recommendations for advanced technologies—such as Flexible AC Transmission Systems (FACTS), Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and high-voltage direct current (HVDC) links—to enhance reliability and efficiency.
