AF Gruppen Secures Key Decommissioning Contract for Offshore Platforms in the UK

The project, valued between 100-125 MNOK, will include offshore preparation and engineering work to dismantle the structures, each weighing approximately 6,500 metric tonnes. Engineering work is set to begin soon, with offshore activities scheduled for Q2 2026.

(PRESS RELEASE) OSLO, 21-Feb-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — AF Gruppen has been officially awarded a decommissioning contract by Scaldis Salvage & Marine Contractors NV, marking a significant step in the company’s continued expansion within the offshore sector. The contract covers the engineering and offshore preparation of three bridge-linked platforms, slated for removal from the UK continental shelf. Estimated to be worth between 100 and 125 million NOK (excluding VAT), the project is a major milestone for AF Gruppen’s offshore operations.

The engineering phase is expected to begin shortly, with offshore preparation activities planned for the second quarter of 2026. The project will involve the careful dismantling of topside structures, which collectively weigh about 6,500 metric tonnes. As part of the agreement, AF Gruppen will undertake a comprehensive survey, engineering, and preparation process, laying the groundwork for the eventual removal of the platforms by reverse installation.
