Aegex Technologies Opens European Office

ATLANTA, Ga., USA, 18-11-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — Aegex Technologies LLC, developer of intrinsically safe Windows-based mobile devices for hazardous locations, has opened its European office in the United Kingdom.

The new location, which is housed near Southampton Airport in England, is Aegex’s third office. The company’s global headquarters is in Atlanta in the United States, with another sales office in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The new European office will help further Aegex’s relationships with strategic partners and customers looking to purchase Aegex’s 10.1-inch intrinsically safe tablets and IoT solutions for hazardous locations in the oil and gas, petrochemicals, public safety and utilities industries.

“Microsoft and Intel are serving as sales channels for us in Europe. Aegex is offering Windows 10 devices built on Intel architecture, so having an office in the UK gives us a location to use as a base of operations for working with these companies as we all work to support our mutual customers across Europe,” said Kevin Smith, Aegex’s Director of Strategic Development. “Both Microsoft and Intel have local teams in the UK, which could make that coordination easier.”

Aegex intrinsically safe tablets run Windows 10 and are to be certified ATEX Zone 1, IECEx Zone1 and UL C1D1 for global use in the world’s most explosive environments. Zone 1 and C1D1 are European, international and U.S. certifications, respectfully, that guarantee a device to be intrinsically safe, or incapable of producing a spark sufficient to ignite an explosion. Such certifications are required for devices used in hazardous locations, where high concentrations of flammable gases, vapors or dusts are present. Aegex expects its devices to gain certifications in fourth quarter 2015.
