Adyen Selected by SNKRDUNK to Strengthen Global Payments, Fraud Prevention and Authorization Performance

(IN BRIEF) Adyen has been selected as the global payments partner for SODA Inc., operator of SNKRDUNK, one of Japan’s largest fashion and collectibles marketplaces, to improve fraud prevention, authorization rates and customer payment experiences. SNKRDUNK handles high-value products including trading cards, branded bags and jewelry, making the balance between fraud prevention and legitimate transaction approvals particularly important. SODA has deployed Adyen Uplift, an AI-powered payment optimisation suite that uses data from trillions of dollars in transactions processed on Adyen’s platform to identify legitimate and fraudulent activity more accurately. SNKRDUNK adopted Adyen across its global e-commerce operations in February 2026 and plans to extend the technology to physical stores worldwide. By consolidating payment gateway, risk management and acquiring capabilities on one platform, SODA can reduce vendor complexity while more easily supporting payment methods including major cards and PayPay. The partnership is intended to strengthen conversion, simplify global payment operations and support SNKRDUNK’s continued international expansion.

(PRESS RELEASE) AMSTERDAM, 15-Sep-2026 — /EuropaWire/ — Adyen has been selected as the global payments partner for SODA Inc., operator of SNKRDUNK, one of Japan’s largest fashion and collectibles marketplaces, as the company seeks to improve fraud prevention, increase authorization rates and provide a smoother payment experience for customers across international markets.

SNKRDUNK operates a consumer-to-consumer marketplace for high-value and trend-driven products including trading cards, branded bags, jewelry and other fashion items. As international demand for these categories has grown, SODA has faced the challenge of preventing fraudulent transactions without unnecessarily rejecting legitimate customers.

Traditional fraud-prevention systems can sometimes apply overly restrictive rules, creating false positives in which genuine transactions are declined. For marketplaces dealing in high-value products, these false declines can reduce conversion rates, frustrate customers and result in lost sales.

To address the challenge, SODA has deployed Adyen Uplift, Adyen’s AI-powered payment optimisation suite designed to improve revenue performance, automate fraud prevention and reduce payment-processing costs.

Adyen Uplift uses artificial intelligence trained on payment data from trillions of dollars in transactions processed through Adyen’s unified platform. The technology is designed to distinguish legitimate transactions from fraudulent activity more accurately while helping merchants improve authorization performance.

Satoshi Kaji, Executive Officer and Chief Operating Officer of SODA Inc., said seamless payments are particularly important in a consumer-to-consumer marketplace where high-value, trend-sensitive products can attract strong demand at specific moments.

He said balancing fraud risk with conversion has been a long-standing challenge for the company and that Adyen’s data-driven technology is expected to help SODA provide customers with a secure purchasing experience without creating unnecessary friction.

Kaji added that SODA intends to work with Adyen as it expands into physical retail locations and international markets, using payments as a strategic component of its broader growth strategy.

SNKRDUNK introduced Adyen’s payment platform across its global e-commerce operations in February 2026 and plans to progressively extend the technology to its physical stores worldwide.

By consolidating payment processing across e-commerce and future physical retail operations on a single platform, SODA aims to reduce the operational complexity associated with managing multiple gateways, risk-management providers and acquiring relationships.

Adyen combines payment gateway functionality, risk management and acquiring within the same platform, allowing merchants to manage a larger portion of the payments process through a single provider.

For SODA, this unified infrastructure is intended to become increasingly important as SNKRDUNK expands internationally and supports a larger range of markets, channels and payment preferences.

The single integration also gives SODA the ability to introduce additional payment methods without having to build separate infrastructure for each market.

Supported options include major credit cards as well as locally preferred payment methods such as PayPay in Japan.

By consolidating payment information across markets and channels, SODA expects to gain a clearer view of customer payment behaviour and regional preferences.

This data can help the company refine checkout experiences, understand which payment methods customers prefer and make adjustments designed to improve conversion and support international growth.

Adam Brownstein, Japan Country Manager at Adyen, said payments are increasingly becoming a strategic growth tool for companies pursuing rapid international expansion rather than serving only as a back-office function.

He said Adyen’s technology, including Adyen Uplift, is designed to help businesses use risk management not only to reduce fraud but also to support successful transactions and improve conversion.

For marketplaces such as SNKRDUNK, the ability to combine fraud prevention, authorization optimisation, payment-method flexibility and centralized reporting can be particularly important because customers and sellers may be spread across multiple regions and transactions often involve high-value products.

The partnership therefore supports SODA’s effort to build a payments infrastructure capable of scaling with its international e-commerce business while preparing for broader integration across physical retail.

Through the rollout, Adyen and SODA aim to reduce unnecessary transaction declines, strengthen fraud controls, simplify payment operations and provide SNKRDUNK customers with a more consistent checkout experience as the marketplace grows globally.
