ABN AMRO introduces Beeldbankieren service to book an online video banking appointment

AMSTERDAM, 22-May-2018 — /EuropaWire/ — Anyone walking, travelling by rail or driving on the A10 ring-road yesterday evening couldn’t have missed the large images of people projected on the side of ABN AMRO’s head office at Gustav Mahlerplein in Amsterdam. This was the bank’s way of giving a ‘face’ to those employees who provide fast, easy and personalised financial advice to clients across the Netherlands through video banking appointments. The #Beeldbankieren campaign shows how successfully personalised advice and new technology can go hand in hand. A third of all advisory meetings already take place through video banking (as much as 61% for mortgage advice). The images projected onto the ABN AMRO building at Gustav Mahlerplein in Amsterdam can be seen each evening up to and including Sunday 20 May.

These days, people prefer to arrange their banking business when it suits them, for example, by mobile phone or by changing their mortgage conditions online. The banking sector is rapidly digitalising, and personal visits to branches have been tailing off for years. More and more people in the Netherlands are instead choosing to do their banking business through webcams, apps, chat or email. However, the need for personal contact remains. ABN AMRO has responded to this by launching Beeldbankieren, a service that lets clients book a personal video banking appointment with one of the bank’s advisors wherever and whenever they want

Personalised advice through an online webcam appointment

Clients can use the Beeldbankieren service to book an online video banking appointment with a banking advisor to discuss their mortgage, pension or investment plans. Or simply to ask them for advice on general money matters. “ABN AMRO feels it’s important for clients to be able to do their banking business anywhere and anytime, now and in the future. Digital apps are an indispensable part of that service. To further improve it, Beeldbankieren combines the latest digital applications with personal advice, speed and ease of use,” explains ABN AMRO’s Personal Banking Director Klaas Ariaans. “When it comes to financial matters, people still want that element of personal contact. With Beeldbankieren, our clients can be having a webcam meeting with one of our advisors within 24 hours of booking the appointment. More than one in three meetings booked with our advisors are conducted by video banking, and over a thousand clients book a webcam appointment each week through abnamro.nl. Our ultimate aim is to make all our advisors ‘Beeldbankier’-proof, increasing the number of webcam appointments from 1,200 at present to 3,000 by the end of the year.”
