MADRID, 6-3-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — This Thursday the Abertis Foundation and the ONCE Foundation signed a cooperation agreement, whereby both entities will work together to analyse and promote measures which will improve the benefits and conditions of service of motorway transit for the group of disabled persons and persons with reduced mobility.

The Managing Director of the ONCE Foundation, José Luis Martínez Donoso and the Institutional Relations Director and Abertis Foundation Director, Sergi Loughney, were present at the signing of the cooperation agreement.

The cooperation also includes the need to take advantage of innovation to promote and encourage social inclusion, acting in services, products, environments, modes of transport and mobility and ITC applications. The ultimate purpose is to enable the use of infrastructure and public and private services by all persons equally, in the most efficient and interactive manner.

Finally, the agreement envisages the promotion of dissemination activities in order to sensitise the society about the rights of disabled persons, universal accessibility and full inclusion of the group.

The Abertis Foundation
The Abertis Foundation acts in three large areas (society, culture and environment) in order to minimise the impact of economic activity of the Abertis Group on the territory, in the countries in which it operates. Commitment to the society is embodied in an extensive road safety programme aimed mainly at drivers or the most vulnerable pedestrians. In the cultural sphere, the Abertis Foundation collaborates with the main cultural institutions of the world. In the environmental sphere, its headquarters, the Castellet Castle, is the UNESCO Centre for Mediterranean Biosphere Reserves.

The ONCE Foundation
The main objective of the ONCE Foundation consists of the execution of work-training and employment integration programmes for disabled persons and overall accessibility, promoting the creation of globally accessible environments, products and services.

“Employment” and “Training for Employment” for disabled persons and the dissemination of the “Universal Accessibility” con¬cept, are the two priority objectives of the ONCE Foundation.
