21-2-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — The company will manage operation and maintenance (O&M) services and provide technical assistance at 13 wind farms for a period of three years, with an option to extend the contract for another three years

Gamesa, a global technology leader in the wind power industry, has won a contract to provide operation and maintenance (O&M) services at 13 wind farms owned by EDP Renewables. The sites have combined capacity of 400 MW and are located in several European countries, primarily France, Spain and Portugal.

Gamesa will perform maintenance services for a period of three years – which may be extended for another three years – on 402 Gamesa- built wind turbines, each with capacity of 850 kW, and on 29 Gamesa 2.0 MW turbines. Additionally, it will provide technical assistance for 179 turbines, each with capacity of 660 kW.

O&M services, key for the company’s growth

The contract strengthens Gamesa’s foothold in the operation and maintenance business, key for Gamesa’s profitable growth, contributing recurring revenues, improving margins and generating cash flow. O&M services are also essential to value creation in the development, availability and profitability of wind farms.

Gamesa’s full-service approach in the wind industry is rounded off with its O&M services business, a division staffed by an international team servicing more than 18,000 MW of turbines around the world for 180 clients.

Gamesa is also at work on programmes to maximise energy output, enhance availability and reduce operation and maintenance (O&M) costs.
