(IN BRIEF) Dürr has completed a major turnkey paint shop project for Thanh Cong Group (TC Group) at the new Thanh Cong Viet Hung automobile plant in Quang Ninh, Vietnam — marking their first collaboration and enabling the launch of Škoda car production in the country. The facility, fully invested by TC Group, spans 36.5 hectares and has an annual capacity of 120,000 vehicles. Despite supply chain and weather challenges, the project was completed within 18 months, earning Dürr China the “Excellent Supplier” award from TC Motors. The advanced paint shop integrates Dürr’s RoDip® E technology for electrocoating and energy-efficient systems, including a dual-function spray booth and robotic automation. The plant will produce Škoda Kushaq and Slavia models for Southeast Asia, strengthening Vietnam’s role in the regional automotive industry.

(PRESS RELEASE) BIETIGHEIM-BISSINGEN, 21-Oct-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — German mechanical and plant engineering specialist Dürr has successfully delivered a turnkey paint shop for Thanh Cong Group (TC Group) at the newly established Thanh Cong Viet Hung (TCVH) automobile factory in Quang Ninh, Vietnam. This project marks the first collaboration between Dürr and TC Group, supporting the launch of Škoda automobile production in Vietnam and contributing to the country’s growing automotive industry.

The TCVH facility represents a milestone in Vietnam’s automotive sector and aligns with the government’s vision to build a large-scale, modern industrial complex in Quang Ninh. Backed by 100% investment from TC Group, the factory spans 36.5 hectares and is designed for an annual production capacity of up to 120,000 vehicles. The plant will serve as a key production and distribution center for Škoda models across Southeast Asia, beginning with the Škoda Kushaq and Škoda Slavia. Its strategic proximity to Haiphong Port ensures efficient logistics for importing completely knocked down (CKD) kits from Pune, India. Phase I of the plant is configured for a production rate of 13 jobs per hour (JPH), with expansion to 20 JPH planned in Phase II.

On-time delivery despite global challenges
The project was completed within 18 months, from contract signing in November 2023 to final acceptance in July 2025, despite supply chain disruptions in materials, shipping fluctuations, and extreme weather conditions including a super typhoon. Dürr’s ability to adhere to the schedule underscores its strong project management and resilience under complex global conditions.

Recognition for excellence and teamwork
In appreciation of its performance, TC Motors honored Dürr China with the “Excellent Supplier” award, recognizing the collaborative spirit and precision engineering that defined the project. Wang Shuo, Project Manager at Dürr Paint Shop Systems Engineering (Shanghai) Co., Ltd., commented:

“A key factor in this achievement was the effective collaboration between the teams of Dürr China and Dürr Vietnam with TC Group. We are extremely proud to receive this award. It reflects the dedication and professionalism of our team, who overcame considerable challenges to deliver a modern, high-quality facility.”

Advanced technology and sustainability
Dürr’s technological expertise played a crucial role in shaping the plant’s modern paint shop. The installation features the RoDip® E system for pretreatment and electrocoating, equipped with electrically driven, freely programmable trolleys that independently control horizontal and rotating movements for each vehicle body. This innovation enables precise, model-specific dip curves, resulting in enhanced coating quality, improved energy efficiency, and reduced operational costs.

Another distinctive feature is the dual-function spray booth, where both primer and clear coat applications are performed within the same chamber, lowering capital investment and optimizing space. Dürr’s comprehensive scope also included sealing lines, seven painting robots, ovens, and a hot wax line, ensuring a fully integrated and automated system capable of meeting global manufacturing standards.

The successful partnership between Dürr and TC Group not only supports Škoda’s market entry in Vietnam but also establishes a new benchmark for automotive production in Southeast Asia — combining advanced European technology with local expertise and sustainable engineering solutions.
