University of Helsinki and Aalto University Collaborate for Finland’s COP30 Delegation

(IN BRIEF) The University of Helsinki will join Finland’s pavilion at COP30, the United Nations Climate Change Conference taking place in November 2025 in Belém, Brazil. In collaboration with Aalto University, the university will present a multidisciplinary group of professors whose expertise ranges from energy transition and sustainable digitalisation to climate justice and circular systems. The initiative, supported by the Technology Industries of Finland Centennial Foundation, highlights the central role of science in tackling global climate challenges. Experts from the Atmospheric and Climate Competence Center (ACCC) will also participate. Finland’s pavilion will feature leading companies and institutions such as Nokia, Outokumpu, Sitra, Stora Enso, SYKE, and the cities of Helsinki and Tampere, showcasing Finland’s integrated approach to innovation and sustainability.

(PRESS RELEASE) HELSINKI, 10-Oct-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) will be held this November in Belém, Brazil, and the University of Helsinki will take part as a member of Finland’s national pavilion.

The Finland Pavilion will highlight how Finnish research institutions and companies are developing innovative, digital, and low-carbon solutions to address the climate crisis. Working in collaboration with Aalto University, the University of Helsinki will present a multidisciplinary team of professors whose areas of expertise include energy transition, sustainable digitalisation, climate justice and inclusion, land use, nature-based solutions, and circular economy systems.
