Statsbygg awards Skanska contract for NTNU’s new Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management facility

(IN BRIEF) Skanska has signed a NOK 750 million contract with Statsbygg to build a new 18,000-square-meter facility for NTNU in Trondheim. The six-story building will accommodate NTNU’s economics and innovation academic environment, offering modern workspaces, teaching areas, and specialist rooms for the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management. The project also includes a fully accessible bridge connecting the new building to the main campus. Construction begins in October 2025, with completion scheduled for December 2027.

(PRESS RELEASE) STOCKHOLM, 26-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Skanska has signed a contract with Statsbygg to construct a new university building for the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim. Valued at NOK 750 million (approximately SEK 710 million), the project will be included in Skanska’s Nordic order bookings for the third quarter of 2025.

The development will deliver a state-of-the-art facility covering 18,000 square meters, designed to house NTNU’s academic environment for economics and innovation. The six-story structure, including a basement level, will provide students and staff with modern workspaces, teaching rooms, and specialist facilities. It will also host central functions for the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management, supporting NTNU’s role as a hub for research and education in innovation-driven fields.

As part of the project, Skanska will also construct a universally accessible bridge linking the new building with NTNU’s main campus, improving connectivity and accessibility.

Construction is scheduled to begin in October 2025, with completion expected in December 2027. Once finished, the facility will provide a modern and collaborative learning environment, strengthening NTNU’s position as one of Norway’s leading universities.
