(IN BRIEF) HENSOLDT has launched TAROSS, a modular electro-optical sensor solution, at DSEI in London. Designed for integration on weapon stations, turrets, reconnaissance vehicles, and unmanned systems, TAROSS offers advanced capabilities for intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition, and reconnaissance. The system provides direct compatibility with HENSOLDT’s Ceretron and can be customised with various sensor configurations, including thermal imaging options and a stabilised pan-tilt unit. By allowing operations to be carried out from safe distances, TAROSS reduces risk to troops while maintaining precision and efficiency. Combining high optical performance with software-defined defence architecture, TAROSS represents HENSOLDT’s vision for the future of ISTAR and sensor-to-shooter connectivity.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON/WETZLAR, 15-Sep-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — HENSOLDT is unveiling its new TAROSS system at DSEI in London, introducing a next-generation electro-optical solution for advanced target acquisition and reconnaissance.

TAROSS has been designed as a modular, scalable sensor platform that can be deployed on remote weapon stations, medium-calibre turrets, light reconnaissance vehicles, and unmanned ground vehicles. Built for adaptability, the system integrates directly with HENSOLDT’s Ceretron mission management suite and can be seamlessly fitted into both existing and future vehicle or weapon systems.

The new product family was created to address the increasing need for safe and effective reconnaissance, surveillance, and engagement. By enabling operations to be conducted from greater distances, TAROSS reduces risk to troops while enhancing operational precision. “Our troops must be equipped with reliable, mission-proven and battle-tested capabilities in the areas of intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR),” explained Josef Reif, Product Manager for the TAROSS system family.

TAROSS combines HENSOLDT’s renowned optical performance with a software-defined defence approach. Its modular design supports multiple sensor configurations tailored to mission requirements, including both cooled and uncooled thermal imaging cameras. It is also available with a fully stabilised pan-tilt unit (PTU), ensuring maximum precision even in challenging environments.

With its modern hardware and software architecture, TAROSS supports future connectivity and the evolving sensor-to-shooter process. As part of HENSOLDT’s broader ISTAR portfolio, the system exemplifies the company’s commitment to delivering reliable, forward-looking solutions that enhance the protection and effectiveness of armed forces worldwide.
