KUKA launches KMP 250P mobile platform to boost safe and flexible intralogistics with new fleet management features

(IN BRIEF) KUKA has expanded its AMR portfolio with the launch of the KMP 250P, a mobile platform that can carry up to 250 kilograms and is designed for maximum flexibility and safety in modern production. Compatible with KUKA’s existing AMR fleet and fleet management software, the new platform supports modular charging options, an extended sleep mode for large fleets, and features 360-degree protection via scanners and 3D cameras. Cleanroom and ESD versions broaden its applications in sensitive environments. Orders will begin in December 2025, with a tugger version, the KMP 250P-T, set for release in 2026, enabling loads of up to 500 kilograms to be transported.

(PRESS RELEASE) AUGSBURG, 29-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — KUKA has introduced the KMP 250P, a new autonomous mobile robot (AMR) designed to transport goods and components of up to 250 kilograms, expanding its portfolio of mobile platforms for flexible production environments. The new model can be optionally equipped with a lifting unit and is available in cleanroom and ESD versions, meeting the highest protection and safety standards. A newly developed “sleep mode” further simplifies fleet management, particularly for large-scale deployments.

Cleanroom and ESD versions enable use in special areas of application.

The KMP 250P complements KUKA’s broader AMR range, which includes platforms capable of handling up to 3,000 kilograms. Accessories and charging solutions for the new model are fully compatible with the KMP 600P and KMP 1500P, ensuring seamless integration and interchangeability within mixed fleets.

Ease of use is a core feature: the KMP 250P can be operated within a single AMR fleet using the fleet management system KUKA.AMR Fleet and the standard VDA 5050 communication interface. Its differential drive enables flexible movement in tight spaces, while both conductive and optional inductive charging stations ensure continuous operation with minimal downtime.

The new mobile platform from KUKA can transport goods and components weighing up to 250 kilograms.

Safety remains central to the design. Equipped with two diagonally mounted laser scanners and 3D cameras, the platform offers 360-degree monitoring to protect people, machines, and transported goods. In the event of an obstacle, the system automatically navigates around it where possible, or safely stops if required. “This high standard is very important to us. It ensures both smooth cooperation between humans and robotics and the safe transport of goods,” explained Clemens Lauble, Product Manager at KUKA.

The platform will be available for order starting in December 2025. Looking ahead, KUKA plans to release an additional tugger variant in 2026. The KMP 250P-T will be capable of pulling transport trolleys from below, allowing loads of up to 500 kilograms to be moved efficiently within intralogistics systems.
