Bilfinger Wins FEED Contract for KNPC’s New North Oil Pier at Mina Al Ahmadi

(IN BRIEF) Bilfinger has been awarded a major FEED contract by KNPC to replace aging oil piers at the Mina Al Ahmadi Refinery with a new North Oil Pier and upgraded onshore facilities. This modernization will secure uninterrupted exports of Kuwait’s petroleum products beyond 2030. Bilfinger’s Middle East engineering team will conduct site surveys, feasibility studies, detailed design, cost estimation, and risk assessments, focusing on enhanced efficiency and environmental stewardship. KNPC, under Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, is a leading regional refiner responsible for processing and distributing the country’s petroleum and gas products.

(PRESS RELEASE) MANNHEIM, 5-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — Bilfinger has secured a significant Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) contract from Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) to develop a new North Oil Pier at the Mina Al Ahmadi Refinery. As the existing piers approach their operational limit by 2030 and cannot be further rehabilitated, this project—together with upgraded onshore facilities—will guarantee Kuwait’s seamless petroleum exports well beyond that date.

“Partnering with KNPC on this cornerstone of Kuwait’s energy logistics is a great honor,” said Christian Rugland, President of Engineering & Maintenance International at Bilfinger. “Our innovative FEED solutions will boost operational efficiency and embed sustainable practices to minimize environmental impact, aligning with Kuwait’s long-term energy strategy.”

Bilfinger’s Engineering & Maintenance Middle East team will deliver comprehensive FEED services, including site surveys, feasibility analyses, conceptual and detailed engineering, cost estimates, and risk assessments. These efforts will optimize pier performance, reduce resource consumption, and uphold rigorous environmental standards. This contract underscores Bilfinger’s expertise in marine and oil-and-gas infrastructure and its dedication to enhancing national energy resilience through sustainable engineering.

KNPC, a subsidiary of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and one of the Middle East’s largest refiners, oversees refining, gas-liquefaction, and product distribution in Kuwait, playing a pivotal role in the nation’s economic development
