His remit includes driving strategic growth, deepening client relationships, and overseeing projects from Northern Europe down to West Africa amidst a wave of industry decarbonisation. Paul Martin, retiring after three years in the role, praised Daniel’s leadership and expressed confidence in the division’s future success. ABL’s maritime division serves a diverse client base from 16 regional offices, delivering expert consultancy across maritime and energy sectors.

(PRESS RELEASE) LONDON, 1-Aug-2025 — /EuropaWire/ —  ABL is excited to announce that Daniel Wood will take the helm as Managing Director of Maritime, Europe & West Africa, effective 1 August 2025. He succeeds Paul Martin, who is retiring after many years of distinguished service in the maritime sphere.

Daniel’s career spans over 30 years of nautical and shore-based leadership. He spent two decades at sea aboard naval ships and passenger liners before transitioning to ten years of senior roles in port operations, vessel governance, compliance, and regulatory oversight. Most recently, he has been instrumental in ABL’s marine advisory practice, serving as Director – Ports and Harbours for Europe and West Africa.

In his new capacity, Daniel will direct ABL’s maritime strategy across a broad footprint—from the Baltic to the Gulf of Guinea—championing growth initiatives, expanding partnerships, and enhancing client services across a varied project portfolio. His arrival coincides with a surge in ABL’s maritime engagements throughout both regions.

Commenting on his appointment, Daniel said,

“I’m honored to build upon the solid groundwork laid by Paul Martin. Leading this dynamic team at such a pivotal moment for the industry—especially as we confront the challenges of decarbonisation—is an extraordinary opportunity.”

Paul Martin reflected on his tenure and Daniel’s succession:

“Working with such a talented group has been a true privilege. Daniel’s vision and dedication will undoubtedly propel ABL’s maritime division to new heights. I look forward to seeing the continued impact of his leadership.”
