NORDEN Signs Major Port Logistics Agreement with Kimberley Metals Group to Optimize Iron Ore Supply Chain in Australia

(IN BRIEF) NORDEN has expanded its logistics services in Australia by entering into a port logistics agreement with Kimberley Metals Group (KMG) at the port of Wyndham, Western Australia. The project will see NORDEN providing additional assets for the transshipment of iron ore from the port onto barges for further transport to ocean-going vessels. This new partnership is a step forward in NORDEN’s logistics strategy, which aims to optimize supply chains and offer integrated freight solutions. The contract includes a fixed-term charter arrangement, with the first barge launching in July 2025. NORDEN’s expansion into logistics is also supported by its previous partnership with Comilog in Gabon, marking a broader global growth initiative.

(PRESS RELEASE) HELLERUP, 19-May-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — NORDEN has signed its first port logistics project in Australia, expanding its existing partnership with Kimberley Metals Group (KMG), a prominent Australian developer and operator of iron ore mining projects. This new collaboration, situated at the port of Wyndham in Western Australia, marks a significant step in NORDEN’s strategy to broaden its logistics operations in the region.

Under the terms of the new project, NORDEN will provide additional assets to support the current transshipment operation, which involves loading iron ore from the port onto barges for further transport to ocean-going vessels. This expansion enhances the overall efficiency and flexibility of KMG’s port-to-port supply chain.

“We are excited to continue growing NORDEN’s logistics capabilities by entering into this agreement with KMG. This partnership takes our existing collaboration to the next level, combining our freight services with our expertise in logistics to optimize KMG’s entire supply chain,” says Anne Jensen, COO of NORDEN.

The contract includes a fixed-term charter arrangement, with an option for extension. The first barge is expected to launch in July 2025.

Further Expansion into the Australian Logistics Market

This new venture is an important milestone for NORDEN as it enters the Australian logistics market. The company is actively identifying opportunities to expand its integrated logistics and freight solutions, aiming to enhance service offerings for both current and potential customers in the region.

“This agreement is a natural next step in NORDEN’s strategic development within logistics. It strengthens our position as a trusted partner for our customers and increases our relevance to them by leveraging the synergies across NORDEN’s integrated freight solutions,” Anne Jensen concludes.

NORDEN’s Growing Logistics Network

NORDEN’s venture into port logistics began in 2022 with the signing of a 10-year agreement with Comilog, a manganese mining company and subsidiary of the French metallurgical group Eramet. This collaboration, where NORDEN operates a large-scale transshipment solution in Gabon, set the stage for the company’s continued expansion into logistics. With a strong global potential, NORDEN is committed to growing its logistics business through infrastructure development in collaboration with both new and existing customers.
