Volvo Group Takes Bold Step Toward Decarbonization at CES 2025

(IN BRIEF) Martin Lundstedt, CEO of Volvo Group, will deliver a keynote at CES 2025, highlighting the company’s strategy for decarbonizing the transport, mobility, and infrastructure sectors. Emphasizing the urgent need for action, Lundstedt called for accelerated adoption of zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs) and the development of necessary infrastructure. He underscored that the transition to a more sustainable transport system requires collaboration between policymakers, industries, and governments. The Volvo Group’s solutions, including battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell technology, and renewable fuels, are already paving the way for a cleaner future.

(PRESS RELEASE) GOTHENBURG, 8-Jan-2025 — /EuropaWire/ — The Volvo Group (STO: VOLV-B), a Swedish multinational manufacturing company, announces that its President and CEO, Martin Lundstedt, is set to take center stage at CES in Las Vegas today at 9:00 am PST, where he will outline the company’s comprehensive strategy for decarbonizing the transport, mobility, and infrastructure sectors. The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) stands as a premier event in the world of technology, and this year, Volvo Group is proud to be one of the four major companies delivering a keynote presentation.

Titled ‘Confidently Ahead,’ Volvo Group’s keynote reflects the company’s enduring commitment to fostering prosperity, a mission it has steadfastly pursued for nearly a century. “Today in Las Vegas, we bring a simple but urgent message: the time for talking has passed. The time for action is now,” stated Martin Lundstedt.

In his address, Lundstedt called on both policymakers and industry leaders to fast-track the shift to zero-emission vehicles (ZEVs). He emphasized the pressing need for a reimagined transport system, one that can address the severe challenges posed by climate change. “The world relies heavily on transport, mobility, and infrastructure. Our economies depend on getting goods to their destinations, taking people to work, and building thriving societies – but we must do all of this with sustainability at the forefront,” he said.

Looking ahead, the need for a cleaner and more efficient transport system is more critical than ever. With global freight volumes projected to increase fivefold by 2050, the transition to ZEV solutions is no longer optional – it is essential. The good news, according to Lundstedt, is that these solutions are already available and evolving. Volvo Group’s showcase at CES features advanced battery electric solutions, hydrogen fuel cell technology, and renewable fuels, all of which are helping pave the way toward a sustainable future.

However, Lundstedt underscored that the transition to zero-emission transport depends on more than just advancements in technology. It requires a coordinated effort from policymakers, governments, and industry leaders. “Policymakers must accelerate the deployment of ZEV transport and infrastructure. Clean energy production, robust charging infrastructure, and effective incentives are all critical to speeding up the transition. This is not just about a new product or technology; it’s about driving a paradigm shift – and we cannot achieve that in isolation. We must act now to shape the world we want to live in,” Lundstedt urged.

The Volvo Group’s CES keynote will be held at The Venetian on January 8th at 9:00 am PST. For those unable to attend, the keynote will be streamed live at CES Keynote Stream, with a replay available later on the Volvo Group website at volvogroup.com.
