Metso Partners with Hindalco to Supply Advanced Refinery Equipment for New Precious Metals Facility in India

(IN BRIEF) Metso has received an order from Hindalco Industries, part of the Aditya Birla Group, to provide engineering services and key equipment for a new precious metals refinery in Gujarat, India. This state-of-the-art facility, set to be commissioned within two years, will operate alongside Hindalco’s e-waste recycling plant. Metso’s scope includes a Kaldo™ furnace with off-gas handling and silver refining systems, as well as basic engineering support. The project will leverage Metso’s advanced refining technology for high recovery rates and low operating costs, ensuring safe and environmentally friendly operations.

(PRESS RELEASE) ESPOO, 28-Oct-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Metso Corporation has announced a new order from Hindalco Industries Limited, a major global player in the aluminum and copper sectors and part of the Aditya Birla Group. Metso will supply engineering services and key equipment for a state-of-the-art precious metals refinery in Gujarat, India. This refinery will operate alongside Hindalco’s new e-waste recycling plant, with commissioning expected to occur within the next two years.

Metso’s contribution includes the delivery of a Kaldo™ furnace equipped with advanced off-gas handling technology and silver refining systems. The package also includes basic engineering services for the refinery’s development. The value of the order has not been disclosed, but it will be recorded in Metso’s Minerals segment for the fourth quarter of 2024.
