(PRESS RELEASE) LA DÉFENSE, 16-Oct-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Thales has announced the successful completion of operational tests for its PR4G and SYNAPS-H radios by the German Armed Forces, showcasing their effectiveness in supporting the NATO enhanced Forward Presence (eFP) deployment. Conducted over a four-week period, the trials demonstrated that Thales radios meet the rigorous requirements for secure, interoperable communication systems necessary for multinational battalion groups deployed on NATO’s eastern flank.

These trials were carried out in collaboration with the Army Development Office, the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw), and military testing teams from Germany, France, and the Netherlands. The focus was on ensuring that the radios could provide modern, encrypted communication while simultaneously transmitting voice, data, and positional information—a crucial capability for multinational operations.

The NATO enhanced Forward Presence is designed to reinforce NATO’s defensive posture on Europe’s eastern flank, with battlegroups stationed in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland, led by the UK, Canada, Germany, and the U.S., respectively.
