Henkel Expands Use of Mass Balance Model with ISCC PLUS Certification at Düsseldorf Polyurethane Site

(PRESS RELEASE) DÜSSELDORF, 14-Oct-2024— /EuropaWire/ — Henkel Adhesive Technologies continues to strengthen its sustainability efforts with the recent International Sustainability Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS certification for its polyurethane production at the Düsseldorf site. This marks the third Henkel site in Europe, following Drogenbos in Belgium and Bopfingen in Germany, to adopt the globally recognized certification for using bio-based raw materials. This milestone highlights Henkel’s commitment to transparency and environmental responsibility in the supply chain, fulfilling growing customer demand for more sustainable and traceable products.

ISCC PLUS certification ensures that alternative raw materials, such as bio-based, recycled, or CO2-derived inputs, are integrated into production processes using the mass balance model. This method allows the tracking of materials throughout the supply chain, from origin to final product, without compromising performance. Each supply chain participant, including suppliers, retailers, and warehouses, must be certified to guarantee that sustainable raw materials are used in compliance with ISCC standards.
