(PRESS RELEASE) COLOMBES, 27-Aug-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — Arkema, a global leader in specialty materials, has announced the ISCC PLUS certification of its Nansha production site in China. This milestone marks a significant step in Arkema’s commitment to sustainability, enabling the company to introduce a new range of bio-attributed UV/LED/EB curable resins specifically for the Asian market.

The ISCC PLUS certification, which follows similar achievements at Arkema’s facilities in France, strengthens the company’s ability to provide renewable and lower carbon footprint products. These bio-attributed resins are designed to meet the growing demand for sustainable solutions in advanced electronics, green mobility, new energies, and other fast-growing industries across Asia.

Terry Lin, General Manager of Sartomer Greater China, emphasized the importance of this certification in supporting customers and partners in achieving their sustainability goals. The Nansha site’s certification is part of Arkema’s broader strategy to develop a global network of ISCC PLUS certified plants, ensuring the consistent availability of high-quality, sustainable materials worldwide.

Arkema’s mass balance approach ensures that the bio-attributed content is accurately tracked and allocated throughout the production process, maintaining the integrity of the renewable sources used. This certification further positions Arkema as a key player in the shift towards more circular and sustainable production practices.

Mass Balance:

Mass balance chain of custody is designed to track the total amount of the content in scope through the production system and ensure an appropriate allocation of this content to the finished goods based on auditable bookkeeping. Property conservation principle is set to ensure that the total certified output does not exceed its original input and take into account the appropriate conversion losses and production / assembly ratios.  “The ISSC+ certification of the whole supply chain guarantees that the origin of the renewable sources meets ISCC+ standards for sustainable feedstocks.
