The project aims to build 1,350 km of high-voltage and very-high-voltage transmission lines, both overhead and underground, along with eight very-high-voltage transformer stations. Over a three-year period, it will involve more than 1,000 workers and enhance the grid management system with remote operation capabilities. This initiative is part of a larger effort to expand Senegal’s energy infrastructure, improve energy capacity by 2026, and work toward universal electricity access.

The French government is set to contribute to the project’s funding, highlighting its significance for the region’s energy development.

The ambitious venture is expected to span a duration of three years, engaging a workforce of over 1,000 individuals. It encompasses the construction of approximately 1,350 km of high-voltage and very-high-voltage transmission lines, both overhead and underground, to connect numerous residences. Additionally, the project involves the establishment of eight very-high-voltage transformer stations. The grid management system will be upgraded, incorporating features like remote operation management and fault detection mechanisms for both overhead and underground power lines.

As part of the initiative, local teams will receive comprehensive training and expertise transfer, benefiting from the experience and support of VINCI Energies’ French and Moroccan subsidiaries.
