GTT Secures Orders for Two Advanced LNG Carriers from South Korean Shipyards

(IN BRIEF) GTT, a leading engineering company specializing in membrane containment systems for the liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry, has announced receiving two orders in 2023 for the tank design of new Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGC). The first vessel, to be constructed by Hanwha Ocean in South Korea, will have a capacity of 174,000m³ and utilize GTT’s NO96 GW membrane containment system, with delivery scheduled for Q3 2027. The second LNGC, built by Samsung Heavy Industries, will also have a 174,000m³ capacity and incorporate GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system, with delivery planned for Q3 2026. Both ships will be constructed for a Japanese ship-owner.

(PRESS RELEASE) PARIS, 10-Jan-2024 — /EuropaWire/ — GTT announces that it has received, in 2023, two orders for the tank design of two new Liquefied Natural Gas Carriers (LNGC).

The first LNGC will be realised by the South Korean shipyard Hanwha Ocean. This vessel will have a total capacity of 174,000m3, and will be fitted with the membrane containment system, a technology developed by GTT. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the third quarter of 2027.

The second LNGC will be built by the South Korean shipyard Samsung Heavy Industries. This vessel will also have a total capacity of 174,000 m3, and will incorporate GTT’s Mark III Flex membrane containment system. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026.

These two vessels will be built on behalf of a Japanese ship-owner.
